How to Replace the Outside Dryer Vent Cover

An exposed outside dryer vent makes a convenient nesting place for insects and small animals, leaving your home away from the unwanted guests. Unprotected dryer vents can collect falling leaves and debris from air, making your laundry room a massy, even leave potential safety hazard. Over time, the dryer vent cover breaks and need to be replaced. You just need few minutes to finish this maintenance task with some basic tools. Deflecto Ventilation(sate-lite) offers dryer vents and dryer vent kits, if you decide to replace all your whole dryer vents.

1.Move the dryer away from the wall.You need to separate the duct hose from the back of the dryer.Some ducts might fastened with screws.Unscrew the screws by using a screwdriver.

2.Go to the outside of the house to access outside dryer vent.Slide the knife along the caulk around the outside dryer vent.Remove 4 screws,which are located at the top and the bottom of the dryer vent cover by using a screwdriver.

3.Brush away dirt from the dryer vent surface.Check inside the duct for debirs.Remove any leaves that you see.

4.Attache the dryer vent cover to the vent pipe,if your dryer vent kit comes with one.The length of vent pipe should be the same as the original one.Slide the new dryer vent into the vent hole.If the screw holds don't line up with the original screw holes,you wil need todrill the new ones.Remove the dryer vent pipe and dryer vent cover then screw the holes with a drill.

5.Move the dryer vent back into place,lining up the screw holes.Screw the dryer vent cover into the wall by using a screwdriver.

6.Go back inside and attach the dryer hose to the dryer vent.Screw the hose in place.Move the dryer back into its original positin.

Flexible Aluminum Dryer vent Hose - How to Replace It?

Clothes dryers vent their hot air out of your home via a flexible aluminum dryer vent hose. With the time past, this hose will clog with cotton velvet or become restricting airflow and fragile. That replacing a flexible aluminum dryer vent hose is a simple task you can do yourself at home. Replace a new dryervent hose might properly improve the energy efficiency of your dryer, what’s more, it can reduce costs and eliminate the risk of fire caused by a damaged or dirty dryer vent hose.

1.     Turn off the electrical power or remove the fuse connected of dryer. Closing the main valve for a natural gas dryer and shut off the fuel supply.

2.     For easy access to the exhaust flange, move the dryer away from the wall.

3.     Loosen the screws which holds the hose clamps in place first, then remove the flexible dryer vent hose from the dryer and the outer hose vent. If  it has taped before, cutting it with a utility knife. Do not yank it off or you may damage the dryer flange.

4.     Slide one end of the new flexible dryer vent hose over the dryer flange. Place a clamp over the dryer vent hose and tighten it on the flange. Some dryer vent hose clamps might have release and pinch feature and tighten automatically while you release the clamp. Some of other dryer vent hose required to pull or squeeze the clamp tightly and tighten a screw to secure it. Do not insert screws into the dryer flange and the flexible dryer vent hose. Because screws can catch cotton velvet, creating a fire hazard.

5.     Remember wrap the foil duct tape around the end of the flexible dryer vent hose to where it connects to the flange. This steps ensures that your dryer vent hose has a good airtight seal.

6.     Bend the new dryer vent hose to reach the outer dryer vent and place the end over the vent pipe. Before permanently securing, cut off any excess pipe.

7.     Clamp and secure the end of the flexible dryer vent hose where it overlaps the outside vent pipe. Again, do not insert any screw into the dryer vent pipe or dryervent hose.

8.     Seal the end of the dryer vent hose with foilduct tape on where it joins the dryervent pipe to ensure the airtight connection.

9.     Move the dryer back into place where it used to be, being careful not to kink or pinch the flexible dryer vent hose.

10.  Restore power, turn on the dryer and assure the connections are tight.

How to Install Water Heater Vent Pipe Properly

When the vent pipe needs to be lengthened,it's preferred to use stainless steel pipe or other steel pipes that is corrosion-resistant,high temperature resistant,flame-resistant,same as the stainless steel pipe.In case we have no choice but to use aluminum vent pipe to add the length,we should choose those of high quality but the elbow can't be aluminum.It must be stainless steel.

3. For the part installed outdoor,we definitely can't use the aluminum vent duct.It must be stainless steel vent pipe.

4. Use aluminum tape to seal the joint in case of leakage.

5. The holes must be sealed to prevent the rain and smoke from flowing backward,and the protruding pipe should slope down 3°~5° and for the clearance between the glass or wall and pipe must be sealed.
